How You Can Live Healthy With Stress

Stress. We all have it, pretty much each and every day of our lives, in some form or another. And it can kick our proverbial behinds, literally and figuratively if we do not get a handle on what it really is, what it does, and how we can come to terms with it and live a healthy life with it.

First, lets try to define stress. I say "try" because there are so many definitions all of them make sense or apply. However, this is what makes the most sense to me as a Health Coach, and what I have seen in my own personal life and that of my clients'. It is the "perceived" outcome to pressure, or the physical and emotional result of being overwhelmed by a circumstance. It makes sense. But how we make sense of what is happening to us, for us, and around us is how we are able to be healthy, or unhealthy when we respond to it.

Now don't misunderstand me. There are some real stresses in life, such as illness, chronic illness and critical illness, death, and financial hardships. But so much of what we stress out about in our daily lives does not fall into these categories so much, so it is all about perspective. Simple, but true.

So here are some concrete tips you can use to live a healthier life with and through your stress! Remember, stress IS NOT something we can get rid of, it is a constant, so incorporating these things in your life and more will get you on the stress less path to great health!

Live totally and completely in the present! Most of what we anticipate as outcomes to situations never occur.

Use your energy for what is on your proverbial plate. Gain your emotional nourishment from the information that you have.

Let whatever information still eludes you to completely show itself before you act. Letting things unfold presents clarity, not anxiety.

Keep a compartmentalized journal. Situations, actions, and reactions are crystal clear when written down. You can connect the dots to unhealthy behaviors beautifully this way.

What you see, you can transform.

Track unhealthy nutrition, especially sugar and fat consumption.

Use this information to take small steps to make better choices.

Protein, protein, protein... to build and maintain muslce and speed up your metabolism

Take concentrated high-quality, limied supplements, such as at least 1000 mgs. of omega 3 DHA fatty acids

Strength and resistance train, 3-4 times per week

Get 7 hours of good sleep

Surround yourself with like-minded, positive, motivated people
